Chicago microdermabrasion comes in many different forms, but one of our favorite procedures is the DiamondTome microdermabrasion treatment. To keep your skin bright, soft, evenly toned and young looking, the skin resurfacing offered by the DiamondTome system is excellent, gentle and gets great client satisfaction.
What is DiamondTome Microdermabrasion?
DiamondTome microdermabrasion is a cosmetic dermatology procedure which involves a skin resurfacing system. The DiamondTome system allows your dermatologist to use natural diamond wands instead of abrasive particles to buff and improve the skin. The DiamondTome wand gently removes the top layer of the skin with exfoliating diamonds and vacuums away dead skins cells.
While primarily used to ease the signs of aging, acne scarring and sun damage on the face, DiamondTome can also be used on the neck, décolletage and hands– the tender skin that is most often exposed to the sun.
Usually, treatments with the DiamondTome system come in batches. Several treatments are usually recommended and when performed every few weeks, are the most successful at showing clients the results they desire. The DiamondTome system can be used at different levels and intensities; your dermatologist will consult with you on the sensitivity of your skin and on the intensity and number of treatments you should pursue for your desired effects.
Results are usually a lessened appearance of fine wrinkles and skin discoloration, overall more even tone, softer skin and a more supple, vibrant complexion. The skin resurfacing process provided by the DiamondTome system removes the damaged outer layers of the skin and also stimulates the tissue below for a firmer and healthier appearance.
What to Expect from DiamondTome Microdermabrasion
After settling on a set number of procedures and their intensity, your microdermabrasion will be administered at your Chicago dermatologist’s office, often by a physician’s assistant or esthetician. Each of these professionals is trained and qualified to administer the procedure using the DiamondTome system.
DiamondTome Microdermabrasion is a great alternative or compliment to a chemical peel. It is an outpatient procedure involving little pain or discomfort, has a very short recovery period and is non-invasive.
After Your DiamondTome Microdermabrasion
As stated previously, there is a very limited recovery needed after this procedure. While you may experience some redness a few hours after your skin is exfoliated with the system, there should be no severe peeling or flaking. Redness should dissipate within an hour to a few hours after your procedure, depending on the sensitivity of your skin and the intensity of your DiamondTome treatment. You will be able to come in a week or two later for your next round.
Renewing effects of the procedure are gradual and will increase with each administering of the procedure. After their first treatment, most people experience soften and smoother skin.
