What you should know about peels

Illustration of areas and issues chemical peels can help, including dull skin tone, wrinkles, post-acne, and dark spots.

Chemical peels are an effective method for exfoliating your skin. The process removes dead skin cells, dirt, and other debris to reveal clean and a more youthful-looking skin. It should be an important addition to your skin care regimen.

Unlike facial scrubs you can use at home, peels at our office have blends of acids or enzymes that more deeply exfoliate the skin, boost hydration, and brighten your skin to create a radiant glow.

Peel types and strengths differ

The peels we offer tend to be mild to medium depth ones that are perfect for mild to moderate skin imperfections. They are great at brightening skin color and clarity while they reduce visible signs of aging and certain types of pigmentation. They can even help with fine lines.

Chemical peels can improve your skin’s look and feel. For patients with sensitive skin, we use a mild peel, which is less likely to cause irritation and dryness. Also, not all skin types are suitable for a peel, and if you have a history of scarring, you may want to choose a different treatment option.

Quick and effective!

Especially now, we hear more and more that our patients have less spare time. The good news is that most chemical peels only take about 15-20 minutes. Come in, have your peel, and leave knowing that you will have healthier-looking skin!

After your treatment

While you may experience some stinging, redness, and sensitivity after your peel, these should go away in a day or two. The amount of time it takes depends on the peel’s strength and your skin. If you’re irritated afterwards, you may want to restrict any activity that would irritate it further until the symptoms resolve.  Peeling may or may not occur, again depending on peel type, and can last from a few days to over a week.

Chemical peels are not only for those with dermatological issues

Chemical peels are great to help treat many dermatological issues, such as acne, hyperpigmentation and sun damage. But those aren’t the only reason to get a chemical peel. It’s a great option if you want a more radiant glow. This means that chemical peels are really for anyone who wants to improve the overall appearance of their skin.
