Great Ideas for National Skin Care Awareness Month

This month is National Skin Care Awareness Month. You’ve heard me say this many times, and it’s worth repeating here: since skin is your body’s largest organ, it’s critical to take good care of it. That’s why a national month designation such as this helps call attention to the importance of protecting and enhancing your skin.

Here are several of my top recommendations to do just that:

Update your routine

Our summer is all too brief and is soon coming to an end. It’s time to change your skin care routine and adjust the products you use for the cooler temperatures. While in the summer months I recommended lighter cleansers and moisturizers, you’ll now want to switch to products that are more hydrating. Make sure you’re using products appropriate for the fall season and your skin type.

Keep up with your sunscreen

Yes. Sunscreen should be used all year every day no matter how sunny, cloudy, rainy, or even snowy it may be. Shield your skin from the sun’s ultraviolet radiation. This includes if you’re staying indoors but are near windows. Even in the cooler weather, you’ll want a broad-spectrum sunscreen that’s at least SPF 30.

Treat yourself to a skin care treatment

This is a great time to schedule one of our aesthetic facial treatments to look your best. Consider…

  • HydraFacial is a 3-step treatment that cleanses, extracts, and hydrates.
  • Microdermabrasion restores your skin to its natural smooth, supple state by gently exfoliating using natural diamond chips while vacuuming away the dead skin cells.
  • Laser Genesis provides subtle improvement in fine lines, large pores, and uneven skin texture.
  • Chemical peels exfoliate your skin and give you a refreshed look.

Stay hydrated

Drinking water helps you stay hydrated and keeps your skin nourished, plump, as well as can help foster a healthy glow.

Schedule your skin checkup
