Skin Care for Men

All too often, men ignore their skin, thinking just shaving is enough. Not so. Everyone needs a good skin care routine.

Exercise, work, kids, and everything else in your day may leave you feeling and looking tired. Sweat, grime, and stress can lead to undesirable outcomes, including breakouts. Don’t ignore your skin; instead, here are some ways men can have a good skin care plan that’s easy to follow.

Clean away the day

Cleaning your skin helps remove the dirt and grime of the day while preventing acne breakouts.

Men usually wash before they shave (typically in the morning), but you also need to wash at the end of your day. Twice a day, use a gentle cleanser that’s appropriate for your skin type and rinse your face with warm water. Pat dry. Don’t rub or scrub.

An exfoliator, used once or twice a week, is a great way to shed dead skin cells, and help reduce the accumulation of oils that can lead to blackheads and whiteheads.

Lock in moisture

Shaving your face often causes skin irritation. Using a moisturizer helps replenish lost skin moisture while protecting it against blemishes. It’s also a great way to help you have less wrinkled skin and look smoother.

Hand cream and body lotion are good options especially if your skin feels dry. These lock in moisture and keep your skin hydrated and healthy.

Prevent wrinkles

Speaking of wrinkles, if you’ve started noticing them around your eyes, it’s time to use an eye cream. In fact, using an eye cream after you wash your face can help prevent wrinkles around the eyes, and even stop them from getting more severe as you age.

Protect

Make a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 a part of your skin care regime. It not only protects your skin from the harmful UV rays of the sun that leads to sunburn, but it also prevents early aging, as well as some forms of skin cancer.
